United Way of the Mid-South’s leadership group, Women United, recently presented trunks filled with supplies to fifteen Memphis-Shelby County Schools graduates about to begin their first semester of college.

With the help of generous donations and sponsors, these first-generation college students are equipped with laptops, bedding, and other items needed to outfit their dorm rooms.

Each student received approximately $2,100 worth of donations to ease their transition from high school to college.

“Once someone goes to college it will change the cycle of a life, and a family, forever” remarked Women United member, TaJuan Stout Mitchell.

Women United has grown their effort with the Stuff the Trunk campaign, increasing the numbers of students awarded trunks from eleven to fifteen, and with your help they hope to serve even more students in 2023. You can make a donation to Stuff the Trunk by clicking here.
