Saturday, teens in the Youth United Way Leadership Program assembled boxes of gifts and wrapped them in holiday cheer for this year’s Shoebox Christmas project.

Shoebox Christmas is an annual Youth United Way tradition that sees the teens give gifts to young children right before the Christmas holiday. Saturday’s Youth United Way meeting saw the United Way boardroom transformed into an assembly line filled with gifts, boxes, wrapping paper and tape. By the end of the meeting more than 200 boxes were wrapped and ready, and more boxes will be added to the stack before the presentation to a local elementary school later this month.
