“It’s the largest amount we’ve ever raised from the tournament, and it’s helping United Way,” said David Vick, Supervisor, Water Meter Services for MLGW.

Glen Eagle Golf Course in Millington hosted a record number of golfers – 140 – for the recent MLGW/United Way Golf Tournament late last month. Golfers teamed up to play their best shots in the four -man scramble contest.

The finish was extremely close, with the winning team posting an impressive score of 55, only one stroke ahead of the second-place team. United Way wishes to thank all of the MLGW players who braved playing in summer heat to raise $9,500 from player fees and sponsorships for United Way, especially David Staggs and his event team of MLGW volunteers who made the event happen.

“Everyone I spoke with really enjoyed the tournament. Most important, we came together as a group and raised money to help United Way’s work in Memphis and the Mid-South!” Staggs said.
