Reminder: This Valentine’s Day, familywize discount prescription cards show loved ones you care

Show your loved ones that you care about their health and want them around for years to come by giving familywize discount prescription cards this Valentine’s Day!

To bring more attention to the familywize cards program and its benefit to people across our region, United Way of the Mid-South has set up outreach tables decorated for Valentine’s Day with information on how citizens can save money using the FREE discount prescription cards.

Tables are located at The Church on the Square Counseling Center, Seeds to Life Ministries and the Memphis Health Center. The cards are also available at all 19 Memphis Public Library locations.

The “Valentine’s Day Take Five – Give Five” promotion  encourages people to take five cards and give them to friends, family members and loved ones during Valentine’s Day as an expression of caring.

Our friends from familywize inform us that last year people across the Mid-South saved more than $421,335 by using the card! The average savings for one person using the card is 35% off the retail price, or almost $20 per prescription. The card can be used for all prescription medicine, at almost any local pharmacy.

The familywize discount prescription card is FREE to everyone, regardless of your income and regardless of whether or not you already have health insurance. There is no signup process so you will not receive any “spam” mail for using the card. You can download the card online and use it the same day.

If the medication you need is covered by the familywize program, you automatically receive the program’s lower price. Some restrictions apply. See the familywize website (provided at the end of this article) to download the card for printing, view a list of local participating pharmacies, learn about covered medications and see other details.

United Way’s partnership with the familywize program is an important part of our work to improve health and financial stability across our region. For more information about the program, please visit www.familywize.org .
