United Way volunteer Marketing Committee helps spread message

While they’ve been at work for less than a year, United Way’s volunteer marketing and communications committee has helped the organization take some big steps in sharing our message with the Mid-South area.

Local media professionals on the committee provide guidance and expertise to strengthen our marketing and communications work. Since the committee’s formation in 2010, United Way has seen a dramatic increase in print and broadcast messaging.

Our Annual Meeting and Campaign Celebration last month saw many improvements thanks to creative input from this committee. The creation of the United Way News Center is a result of the committee’s observation that we needed more continually-updated content on the internet.

The committee is led by United Way executive board member Lee Meredith (WMC TV5), who is volunteer chairman of United Way’s marketing and communications work. The committee is also honored to have Otha Brandon (Comcast), Paul Jewell (The Commercial Appeal), Susan Jennings (Education Realty Trust), Dan Barron (Entercom), and Bob Caporale (Thomas & Betts) on board.
