United Way's Thanksgiving Halftime Show will be held during the contest between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions

The Packers and Lions are both having great seasons this year, and both teams are members of the NFL’s NFC North division. The division rivalry and strong play from both squads raises the importance of the Thanksgiving game for NFL football fans in 2011.

The United Way Halftime Show for this early afternoon game is a NFL tradition which helps raise awareness of the United Way network and its efforts to improve education, financial stability and health. Volunteers are recruited to assist with the performances and logistics of constructing the halftime show, representative of how the United Way system relies on the strength and power of volunteers every day.

Canadian rock group Nickleback will also perform as part of the halftime show.
