Veterans Day is a day of reflection on those who have served and those who continue to serve our nation in the Armed Forces. We should be thankful each and every day to those who have left their families, friends and civilian jobs for lower pay and higher risks of danger and possibly death. All of this – for our freedom.
The Veterans Day holiday was originally a commemorative of the armistice of World War I, or “War to End All Wars.” Sadly, men and women in our military have had to put themselves in harm’s way repeatedly since then to protect the freedoms we enjoy.
From the volunteers and staff at United Way of the Mid-South, we thank all our veterans and we salute you!
