United Way of the Mid-South, the Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance and the Internal Revenue Service announce that The Real Economic Impact Tour (A program of the National Disability Institute) will provide free training for understanding asset building and benefits for people with disabilities on Thursday, August 30.
This four-hour workshop gives participants a basic understanding of many benefit programs offered by local, state and federal government. Training sessions like this can be very valuable since applications and rules are changed periodically, and can be confusing.
If you have a disability or are working with someone with a disability, you can receive the most up-to-date information on Federal SSI and SSDI/Medicare benefits, including effects of earned income. There will also be information related to state benefits such as Medicaid and Medicaid waivers, work incentives to support and encourage employment (such as the Student Earned Income Exclusion, Plan to Achieve Self-Support, Trial Work Period and Extended Period of Eligibility Continuation of Medicare). Discussion will also focus on Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) and the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
To register for the training today, click here (note: You will be taken to a webpage outside of the United Way of the Mid-South News Center.)
If you require an ADA accommodation to participate in the training, please contact Katie Metz at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 904.716.7936 with your request at least one week before the training meeting.
