Starting with a kickoff rally at the Salvation Army Kroc Center at 800 E. Parkway South in Memphis at 8:00 a.m., over 1,100 volunteers will spread across the region to devote a day of work to helping the area’s nonprofit community.
Day of Caring is the official start of the United Way fundraising drive, which is led by Bruce Hopkins, President, West Tennessee Region for First Tennessee Bank. Hopkins is the community’s General Campaign Chairman for 2013-14, leading the charge to raise resources for the United Way network of care.
During the rally, volunteers will learn more about important changes and improvements underway at United Way from Chairman of the Board Martha Perine-Beard as she shares elements of United Way’s Strategic Plan work. The rally will also feature guests who are bearing gifts to help the campaign get started. Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell and City of Memphis Mayor AC Wharton will also welcome the crowd.
