We are pleased to announce the appointment of our new board chair, Scott Fountain, Senior Vice President of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation.

Fountain’s predecessor and former president of Memphis Light, Gas, and Water, Jerry Collins, stepped down after announcing his retirement from MLGW this year.

Scott Fountain relocated to Memphis from Florida in 1991, after starting as the Vice Chancellor of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) – the youngest to ever hold the position. After three years, he joined Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation where he oversees the $460 million Foundation and is also responsible for the division of Corporate Communications which includes the departments of Marketing, Public Relations, Web Development and Community Relations/Outreach for the Baptist Corporation.

Fountain is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in communications and journalism. He serves on the boards of the Medical Education and Research Insitute (MERI), the New Memphis Institute, PeopleFirst Partnership with Memphis Fast Forward and the Economic Club of Memphis. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Dixon Art Gallery and Gardens.

Fountain is married with two children.
