“Don’t ask me, ask her!”
That was John Mathis’s response when the shift co-manager at Sam’s Town Casino and Resorts was told he was chosen to kiss “Charlotte” at the end of the casino’s United Way campaign.
Charlotte, a local pig, was not used to such advances. She stood nearby, dressed prettily with a bright pink bow.
Mathis was the unanimous choice to kiss Charlotte in a contest that supports United Way’s ongoing fundraising drive to improve local education, financial stability and health for the Mid-South. Employees celebrated the end of their United Way campaign last week with delicious food at the Sam’s Town auditorium and gathered for a view of Mathis and Charlotte’s …appointment.
Mathis decided it would be easier at Charlotte’s level (as in – on the floor) and while he showed himself a great sport by dropping to all fours, it was evident Charlotte was …well, not all that interested in the idea. Despite her indifference, the shift co-manager showed himself to be a true champion for charity and lived up to his end of the bargain.
Charlotte – ever the lady – had no comment after the kiss.
