It is with great sadness and fondness of memory that we remember Dr. Jesse McClure, a long time United Way volunteer leader and a former Chairman of our Board of Directors, who passed away last week.
Dr. McClure joined our United Way Board of Directors in 1993 and was a very active United Way volunteer leader, helping steer our organization as chairman for a variety of committees before becoming Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2000-2001.
Dr. McClure shared his remarkable ability to bring people together to work on common problems with United Way’s work on fundraising in education, HIV and AIDS, and our finance and executive committees. He steered our organization as Chairman during the time of the September 11 attacks.
Even after his term as Chairman of the Board, Dr. McClure continued serving as a United Way volunteer, most recently serving on our Nominating Committee and as Chairman for our Community Impact work benefiting Health for Children and Adults.
Services for Dr. McClure will be held today at Hope Presbyterian Church Chapel in Cordova, TN.
