Youth United Way students helped feed the homeless and neighborhood residents last Saturday in downtown Memphis

Youth United Way Leadership Program students participated in the annual “Can I Live” weekend community picnic for the homeless, held at Robert R. Church Park in downtown Memphis last Saturday, under extremely hot conditions.

Despite the heat, the volunteer students served food and snow cones, monitored children activities, setup and dismantled tables and chairs, and distributed water to neighborhood residents. This event provided food and other services to the homeless population and neighborhood residents in the downtown area of Linden Avenue and Beale Street in Memphis, TN.

United Way’s Youth United Way Leadership Program is an investment in a positive future as it develops young leaders and promotes youth philanthropy and community service. Youth United Way members show other youth about the benefits of giving back to the community.
