From the Archive: Memphis & Mid-South recognized as leaders in generosity

The Mid-South has some of the most generous people in America according to a recent study released by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

The city of Memphis and the state of Mississippi each ranked second-highest among cities and states in a study of the most generous places in America.

“Memphis is the second-most generous urban area among the 50 biggest metropolitan areas,” the report concluded.

In a countdown of the most generous states, Mississippi ranked second, Tennessee placed fourth, and Arkansas ranked seventh. (Utah was the national leader).

The Chronicle of Philanthropy is a publication which focuses on giving and the nonprofit community. You can find the study here.

United Way of the Mid-South works to improve education, financial stability and health in Arkansas (Crittenden County), Mississippi (DeSoto, Tate, and Tunica counties) and Tennessee (Fayette, Lauderdale, Shelby and Tipton counties).

We are proud to salute the generous people of our community, and we celebrate this national recognition for our Mid-South region!
