Medtronic’s timely campaign helps kick off UW regional effort, raises over $291,000

Medtronic employees, with UW staff and Loaned Executives, participated in the regional Day of Caring kickoff in September

Medtronic ran one of the area’s earliest United Way fundraising campaigns again this year, and once again its dedication to our local community helped us kick off our regional drive with over $291,000!

Medtronic’s Spine and Biologics divisions in Memphis saw a great 136% increase over their pledge goal.

With only two weeks to raise funds, Medtronic used strategies including attention-getting emails and a consistent message to employees: “United Way helps families gain stability because UW’s programs focus on basic human needs such as education and health.”

Medtronic employees responded with a tremendous outpouring of support during the first three days of the fundraising drive. Campaign leaders kept the campaign activity going with prize drawings, employee lunches and “jersey and sneakers day.”

Medtronic also hosted an e-auction so employees could bid on reserved United Way parking spaces in prime locations at the company’s parking garage. The e-auction bidding raised over $5,000.
