Medtronic campaign up this year: $344,055!

Medtronic presented a check to United Way employees recently in support of the 2011-12 campaign

Spinal employees in Memphis took the spirit of “Chip In—Live United” to heart, exceeding the location’s original 2011 United Way Campaign goal by more than 21 percent! The success of the campaign was driven in part by 23 “Matchmakers,” who fanned the flames of competition between floors at the Pyramid campus and the Swinnea distribution facility.

The 2011 campaign, which “teed-off” September 7 and concluded September 23, generated a grand total of $344,055 for Mid-South service organizations, exceeding the location’s original goal of $280,956 set by Corporate. The final tally includes donations, proceeds from special events and the Medtronic match.

Special event winners include Wayne Seals, who received a $25 VISA gift card for “guessing the number of widgets” and Christie Petrowski, who won the same prize for dominating in Ladder Golf. iPad raffle winners were Victor Rocha, Kennette Smith and Stephanie Key; Mark Wright won the raffle for a NOOK Color Reader.

Throughout the campaign, Spinal “Matchmakers” served as United Way cheerleaders—promoting awareness of volunteer opportunities and events and encouraging everyone to “do their electronic duty” in entering a response on the United Way website, whether they donated or not. The carrot? Floors with 100 percent participation would be treated to a pizza party! Three floors—A1, A2 and D6—achieved this goal, and as a reward were treated to pizza, spaghetti and other pizzeria favorites.
