March and April features United Way, EITCA / VITA staff and volunteers on the air to promote free tax services

During March and April, don’t miss United Way staff and volunteers on television, promoting the benefits of using FREE tax preparation and filing help through the Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance (EITCA) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

WYPL (commonly known as the The Library Channel) will feature United Way guests for Ally Luciano’s Memphis Makers program and Senior Focus, a Memphis-themed variety show hosted by Sunny Ross.

Public service announcements are also running on radio, through 89.3 FM WYPL and 88.5 FM WQOX, “The Voice of Memphis City Schools.”

Most EITC sites opened earlier this month and will help tax filers through the tax deadline of April 17. In coming weeks, more than 25 EITCA/VITA sites will provide FREE tax preparation and filing services to local residents, focusing on families with or without children which earned up to $50,000 or less in 2011.

EITCA is an initiative of United Way of the Mid-South in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, AARP, Department of Human Services, Memphis City and County Governments, the 2-1-1 Information System and other local business and nonprofit agencies.
