United Way President Bryce Haugsdahl with Loaned Executives

UW President Bryce Haugsdahl (standing, left) speaks with the this year's Loaned Executives class about the ever-changing work of United Way.

This morning a team of over 40 Loaned Executive volunteers assembled at United Way to begin a week of education and training to learn more about the Mid-South’s nonprofit sector and our local United Way.

The volunteers were welcomed by United Way General Campaign Chairman John Crowe, Chairman & CEO for Buckeye Technologies, Inc.  Crowe leads our region-wide effort to raise funds for the United Way network of care this year.

This week, the Loaned Executive class will hear from local nonprofit leaders, public speaking professionals, volunteers and United Way staff members about the challenges our community faces and the opportunities we share for making a difference. They will also learn about the importance of United Way fundraising drives at businesses and organizations across the Mid-South. They will be instrumental in the success of Employee Campaign Leaders Training at The Peabody in downtown Memphis on Thursday, August 25, and will serve as worksite coordinators for United Way Day of Caring on Friday, September 16.

We look forward to Loaned Executives also providing updates for the News Center in the months to come, and we’ll have more stories about their work throughout the week.
