A post on the United Way Worldwide website yesterday features an interview with Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback Roger Staubach about life as a football player, successful businessman, and United Way volunteer.

Staubach’s television commercials for United Way in the 1970s are among the most popular public service announcements in our organization’s history. Not many people know that after leaving the game in 1979, Staubach continued his involvement in United Way’s mission and eventually became a member of the organization’s board of directors.

He remains an active champion for United Way and is pleased to see NFL players who take an active role supporting our movement. The United Way – NFL partnership celebrates its 40th anniversary this season.
