United Way Fundraising Specialist Lauren Hammond has been wearing two hats in our offices recently, helping drive in resources for the fundraising drive in her normal work while also coordinating our staff’s Thanksgiving basket collection effort.

Last year, United Way collected food for six Thanksgiving baskets to help families in our community and this year the generosity continues, with ten baskets (and counting) going to help people in need.

United Way’s employee committee recruited departments for a wide variety of food items including corn meal, top celery and onion, stuffing, eggs, chicken broth, cranberry sauce, cake mix and frosting and many other holiday meal staples. Staff readily responded to support the worthy cause.

“This year, we are all thankful for so very much,” Lauren said. “We know that many in our community are struggling. Some may have close connections to us. This year, we wanted to exceed last year’s basket count, and thankfully we did!”
