Our friends at The Commercial Appeal reported details about the United Way Annual Meeting and Campaign Celebration in today’s edition. You can read the story here.

Yesterday’s meeting saluted volunteers and organizations which support our fundraising and community impact work. Celebrity presenters and United Way board members shared details about our most recent fundraising drive and how the United Way network helps improve people’s lives. Rick Trotter (voice of the Memphis Grizzlies), Ron Childers (WMC TV5), Ron Olson (FM100), Steve Conley (KQK FM), and Geoff Calkins (The Commercial Appeal) helped with presentations. Memphis Mayor A C Wharton and Harvey Kennedy from Shelby County Government also shared remarks. United Way board members Bill Logue (FedEx), Rabbi Shai Finkelstein (Baron Hirsch Congregation), Rev. Marilynn Robinson (Saint Francis Hospitals) and John Crowe (Buckeye Technologies) helped the event with their participation. People who have benefitted from United Way’s network of care shared their personal stories, representing Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis and Madonna Learning Center, both UW partner agencies.

The luncheon, which hosted 850 guests at The Peabody in Memphis, ended with the announcement that our campaign fundraising total surpassed $25.7 million.
