Helping a woman with mental disabilities in her battle against HIV: United Way information series with The Commercial Appeal

Our friends at The Commercial Appeal are running a series of information messages that showcase stories of how your United Way support improves education, financial stability and health for people across our Mid-South community.

The quarter-page bulletins appear in Sunday editions of the newspaper. Space for the messages is generously provided by The Commercial Appeal.

This message ran in mid-November, featuring a tragic yet inspiring story about how your support for United Way and its network of care has made a dramatic difference in the life of a woman with mental disabilities who was attacked by a relative and contracted HIV. The message is available for viewing as an Adobe Acrobat PDF document.

We thank our friends at The Commercial Appeal for their generosity, and wish to recognize its President and Publisher, Joe Pepe who serves on our volunteer Board of Directors,  and Marketing Director Paul Jewell, who serves on our volunteer United Way Marketing and Communications committee for their help in securing this donation.

Other messages will be published here at the United Way News Center throughout the year. Feel free to use these messages in your organization’s newsletters and send them to your co-workers as e-mail attachments, and please let us know when you do.
