Youth United Way and the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation have worked together to impact teen issues in our community for eight years, and the spirit of cooperation continues into 2010-2011.

Earlier this month, the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation provided a grant for $25,000 to Youth United Way (YUW). YUW teens will create allocations committees staffed by local students to determine how the funds will be distributed to nonprofits and programs addressing teen-related issues. Teen allocations committee structures are based upon United Way’s model of using local volunteers to decide how donations are used.

“Youth United Way and the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation have a great, and very unique,¬†partnership. Their support through this grant helps teach our students about leadership, responsibility, and giving back to the community. Our teens enjoy an important connection with an organization they already love, the Memphis Grizzlies NBA basketball team,” said Director Clint Anderson.
