United Way uses weekly countdown meetings and goalsetting strategies during the fundraising season to track the progress of the annual drive. The goal for the week before Thanksgiving is always aimed at a daunting target, and this year was no exception.
This year, the bar for this historically-challenging week was set at over $2.5 million. Yesterday, during a luncheon honoring our Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives, Senior Vice President of Fundraising Faye Carter announced that not only had the team met the goal, they had passed it by more than $120,000 for a result surpassing $2.62 million! This strong push puts the campaign ahead of this date last year, with our grand total-to-date already surpassing $20 million.
General Campaign Chairman Shannon Brown (FedEx) and United Way President Bryce Haugsdahl thanked the team for their dedication and tremendous effort, and expressed optimism about the remainder of the campaign.
“The last months, from December thru February, are always the toughest ones. Today’s result and the work over the last four months puts us in a good position moving forward. There’s no way our organization could raise these funds without the help of our Loaned Executives, Sponsored Representatives and volunteers across the region,” Carter said.
The regional fundraising campaign wraps up in late February, 2011.
