April 15 has come and gone, but there is still a need for tax preparation help in our region as people file amended returns. Thankfully, there is still FREE tax prep help available because of United Way partnerships working in the Mid-South.

United Way’s Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance (EITC) and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partnerships will assist tax filers with amended returns, current year and prior year returns at the Cossitt Library, 33 S. Front Street in downtown Memphis on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm beginning Thursday, May 22 through Friday, June 20.

To schedule an appointment, call (901) 433-4361.

To have your taxes prepared correctly, it is important to bring a photo ID, Social Security card(s), W-2 forms & 1099 forms, along with any correspondence/transcripts you may have received from the Internal Revenue Service.

Helping people file taxes correctly and receive proper refunds that are not filled with fees and service charges is an important part of United Way’s work to increase financial stability across the Mid-South. Our Free Tax Prep sites across the region have helped bring millions of dollars into the area, without charging any fees or services to people receiving assistance.
