Tomorrow, Fred’s employees will visit United Way Plaza at 1005 Tillman Street in Memphis for a morning of shopping at the first-ever “Live United Sale – powered by Fred’s,” a reinvention of the long-standing Fred’s annual warehouse sale for its employees to benefit United Way of the Mid-South.
For many years, the Fred’s sale was held annually at the Fred’s warehouse location in Memphis. This year Fred’s employees will come to United Way Plaza for the event as products from Fred’s warehouse will be sold with all benefits from the sale going to United Way’s work to improve education, poverty/financial stability, and health across the Mid-South. Fred’s has also opened the event to staff from United Way partner agencies.
In addition to proceeds from the annual sale, many Fred’s employees contribute to United Way through regular donations made via payroll deduction.
“This is another great way the people at Fred’s partner with United Way to raise resources to impact our community. This is the first year the Fred’s warehouse sale will be at United Way headquarters, and staff and volunteers have been amazed at the donations of products we’ve been unloading today,” said Dave Skorupa, Vice President of Communications for United Way.
“Tomorrow we’re transforming our plaza area into a showroom for these great donations. All proceeds from the sale will go to United Way’s work for our Mid-South community.”
Employees from Fred’s and United Way network partner agencies will participate in the sale from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. All sales are cash only. Our thanks once again to Fred’s for the opportunity to engage their employees in a new and exciting way!
