Money Smart “Train the Trainer” workshop November 15

Helping people file taxes can help them receive larger refunds, increasing their potential for financial stability

United Way of the Mid-South’s Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance (Shelby County) is hosting a Money Smart “Train the Trainer” workshop Monday, November 15, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The workshop will take place at United Way of the Mid-South, 6775 Lenox Center Court, Suite 200 in Memphis, TN.

Money Smart is a financial literacy program developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to build knowledge, security and confidence.  The program includes information on bank services, credit, checking accounts, saving, consumer rights, and other subjects relative to financial security.  Michael Powers with the FDIC will be the trainer.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to facilitate Money Smart workshops in their communities, churches, civic organizations, schools, and other areas.  Improving financial literacy is a goal of our local Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance (EITCA).

The Mid-South needs volunteers to attend this session so they will be better prepared to help us educate the community.  Please RSVP by November 11 by calling 901.433.4333 or sending an e-mail message to janet.haas@uwmidsouth.org (space is limited).
