Meritan and United Housing, Inc. joined forces to create the Deborah Cotney Cottage. The cottage is a medical residential home with wheelchair accessibility and other lifestyle considerations for people with special needs located in the Wolf River Bluffs area. Meritan contracted with United Housing Inc. to construct the home.
Meritan and United Housing received help and support along the way with important steps such as site development, construction and purchase from INSOUTH bank, the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA), the Assissi Foundation, the City of Memphis and Neighborworks America and Neighborworks Capital.
At a ceremony last week, United Housing officially transferred the cottage to Meritan.
Among the many guests celebrating the completion of the project was Deborah Cotney, namesake for the project.
Cotney is the past Executive Director of Meritan, and the organization honors her with the naming of the cottage in tribute to her service with the agency.
