Bruce Hopkins, President, West Tennessee Region for First Tennessee Bank was welcomed by United Way of the Mid-South’s staff with a standing ovation this morning as he starts his work as General Campaign Chairman for 2013-14.
Hopkins is the lead community volunteer steering campaign cabinet members and United Way staff raising funds and resources to support United Way’s local network. The network of nonprofits improves education, financial stability and health for people in our region.
“We’re thrilled Bruce agreed to lead our 2013-14 campaign. He loves Memphis and its people – he is a very caring and unselfish individual, and well respected in our business community,” said Bryce Haugsdahl, President of United Way of the Mid-South.
“Bruce is the type of volunteer who leads by example and he will be working alongside us as our ‘general on the hill’ this summer and fall,” said Faye Carter, Senior Vice President of Fundraising for United Way.
Hopkins visited the United Way offices this morning to become even more acquainted with staff and strategies involved in the effort. The United Way campaign begins later this summer and a formal campaign kickoff is scheduled for August 23rd.
First Tennessee Bank is one of the strongest supporters of the United Way of the Mid-South network, ranking in the top five giving organizations for many years. First Tennessee has also provided key support as top executives have volunteered to serve on the United Way Board of Directors and helped United Way fundraising efforts at the bank.
