Longtime United Way volunteer, community champion and local philanthropist Jim Prentiss passed away Tuesday morning, February 12, 2008 at age 80.
Prentiss, with his wife Carol, are previous recipients of the highest honor United Way can bestow on local volunteers, the Alexis deTocqueville Award, which recognizes individuals who, through generosity and compassion, have elevated the act of caring and impacting the local community to the highest levels. Both Jim and Carol have been active fundraising volunteers for United Way and many other local nonprofit causes for many years.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Prentiss will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16th at Advent Presbyterian Church.
