A new United Way "Born Learning" Trail was installed at Frazier Park on October 29, 2008.
The trail helps parents with their early childhood education efforts.
(MEMPHIS, TN) A new Born Learning Trail was installed at Frazier Park on October 29th to help parents and their young children engage in quality fun learning opportunities together.
"Born Learning trails are specially-constructed walking pathways which give parents and caregivers the opportunity to engage with children in early learning times. The trails encourage parents to engage their children in learning; becoming more educated about the basics of shapes, counting, color differentiation and other early skills. When parents are teaching their young children, it encourages the children to more learn more readily when they enter school, which leads to greater success in life down the road," said Dave Skorupa, Vice President of Communications for United Way.
The trail is made possible thanks to donated equipment, products and installation materials from Home Depot and a grant from United Way of the Mid-South. The space is being provided by the City of Covington.
Construction on the trail got underway quickly, with participation from Home Depot store manager Dennis Patrick, Pro Account Sales Associate Billy Shires, and representatives from United Way of the Mid-South and students and staff from Children and Family Services.
