(MEMPHIS: NOVEMBER 25, 2008) United Way of the Mid-South saluted the hard work and effort put forth by this year's Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives to help the organization raise funds for our network of health and human care across the Mid-South. This special group of community volunteers were saluted at a special luncheon where staff and campaign volunteers praised their work for our region.

Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives are a specially-trained group of people from across the region who assist United Way staff in running fundraising campaigns in businesses and organizations throughout the 8-county Mid-South area.

"Without the work and support of Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives, there is simply no way our organization could raise the millions of dollars needed to maintain the critical programs of our network - programs that help nearly a third of our population. To put it simply, our staff and everyone across our region owe these folks great thanks for their work to support United Way," said Harry Shaw, President of United Way of the Mid-South.

During the celebratory luncheon, General Campaign Chairman Kathy Buckman Gibson and Senior Vice President of Fundraising Bryce Haugsdahl presented a very familiar program with the Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives: The Campaign Countdown report. This report captures the highlights of currently-running and completed fundraising campaigns across the region, and gives United Way a good idea of how fundraising is progressing. The room exploded into applause when Haugsdahl and Buckman-Gibson revealed that the total as of November 25 was $22,335,574 - far ahead of the campaign at this point last year, even with the downturn in the national economy. The campaign will conclude in February, 2009 when the final total will be shared with the community at the Annual Meeting and Campaign Celebration luncheon.

United Way thanks our team of Loaned Executives and Sponsored Representatives for all they do to improve people's lives and positively impact our community!
