Building vital and safer neighborhoods index

When we LIVE UNITED and support United Way, we can build vital and safer neighborhoods.

When we LIVE UNITED and support United Way, we create improvements in education, finances and health that help revitalize neighborhoods and reduce crime rates.
When neighbors band together to improve communities, lives are changed and our quality of life is improved. Working with community-based programs, neighborhood associations and local initiatives, United Way helps build vital and safer neighborhoods:

Vital communities

> Supporting development of neighborhood associations and community-based programs and assisting with equipment, furniture and training

> Giving low income families access to affordable home mortgages

> Working to educate citizens on the dangers of predatory lenders

Safer neighborhoods

> Improving the quality of housing in neglected areas

> Educating new homeowners to be responsible and active in their neighborhoods

> Empowering people in low-income areas to make responsible financial decisions

> Supporting neighborhood leadership in addressing crime, vacancy, lighting and community beautification
