Programs

United Way has developed several programs to address underserved needs in our Mid-South area. These creative initiatives are led by United Way staff and gain strength from a network of business and nonprofit partners working together to improve our community.

 

American Humanics
United Way is working alongside 24 nonprofit partners and three colleges in the American Humanics program. This program helps prepare and certify college students for work in the nonprofit field.

Day of Caring
Local volunteers from area organizations dedicate a day of work to the nonprofit community through the Mid-South's largest single-day community service event.

Earned Income Tax Credit Alliance
United Way helps individuals and families tap into millions of dollars in earned income tax credits.

Labor Participation
United Way's Labor Participation department provides valuable worker training and helps members of organized labor volunteer and give back to the community.

Success by 6
This local collaboration helps more children reach their school years healthy, well nurtured, and prepared to succeed.

United Way's HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention Initiative
This important initiative manages and allocates funds for the region's battle against HIV/AIDS.

Venture Fund
The Avron B. Fogelman Venture Fund awards one-time grants for new approaches to community issues. This Fund has been suspended for 2010.

Youth United Way
Youth United Way helps today's teenagers learn that responsibility and giving back to our community are important.
